Two similar scenarios

If you hold the key, the system begins to repeat the symbol. This is a common feature and the browser flags such events separately. Another situation is that one short press sometimes creates two symbols, although you have already released the button.

The tester separates auto-repeat and quick transition “released → pressed” for one physical key. The threshold value is open in the interface. Press the suspect key slowly, pausing between physical presses.

Check one key and control

First, perform 20 short presses of the problematic key. Then do the same series on the next one, which works fine. Do not type your password, correspondence, or other personal information: repeating one letter is enough for diagnosis.

Then hold the key for a second. The auto-repeat counter may increase; this in itself is not a sign of a malfunction. The comparison shows how your browser represents typical retention.

The card uses physical key codes, so the KeyF name remains the same when changing languages. On a non-standard keyboard, some of the additional keys may not have a separate image; the received event still appears in the log.

What to check outside of the test

1. Open a simple text editor and repeat a short series. If there is duplication in only one program, study its extensions and hotkeys.
2. Check the replay speed and delay before it in the system settings. They affect retention, but do not necessarily eliminate the individual extra press.
3. Disable your own macros and reassignment utilities after saving the profile.
4. Compare USB port, cable, or wireless connection if your model has multiple options.
5. If possible, test the keyboard on another computer.

When to suspect a switch

Repeated close presses of one key on several computers is a reason to check the device. This is not yet an electrical bounce measurement: the browser sees events after they are processed by the system. Firmware, drivers and software filters remain part of the chain.

If the problem appears after holding multiple keys together, go to combination test. Skipping a combination and doubling a single letter require different checks.

How to keep your description clear

Specify the key, threshold, number of physical presses, quick repeats, and results on another device. The phrase “with 20 slow key presses of KeyE a close repeat appeared three times” is reproducible. The wording “the tester declared the keyboard broken” loses the conditions and promises more than is measured.
