How to get a useful center measurement

Connect the gamepad and press the button on it so that the browser detects the device. Place it on the table. Do not touch the sticks while measuring: the average deviation during intentional movement does not indicate anything about drift.

Click "Reset Metering" and observe for about ten seconds. Then deflect the stick, release, reset the statistics again and compare the return to the center. Repeat from several directions.

What does a circle around the center mean?

This is a custom comparison area. It helps you see if the original signal remains within the selected radius. The setting on the page does not change the calibration of the gamepad and does not write parameters to the game or firmware.

A large dead zone in a game may hide small offsets while reducing sensitivity near the center. The small zone makes the movement more accurate only until the noise and displacement begin to control the character themselves.

There is no universal acceptable percentage for any gamepad. The design, firmware, driver and software processing vary. Compare the same device in the same mode and save the conditions.

If the axles look weird

Check the Mapping field. With the standard layout, the browser maps the axes to the usual layout. For a non-standard device, the third axis may not mean the right stick. See which point moves in a physical action, and don't call an inappropriate match drift.

Useful for testing buttons and analog triggers full gamepad test. If the browser does not see the device, click the button, check USB/Bluetooth and try another modern browser. Failed detection does not mean hardware failure.

What to compare before repair

1. Drift in the browser and behavior in the game with a known dead zone setting.
2. Wired and wireless connections, if both are supported.
3. The result before and after standard calibration according to the manufacturer's documentation.
4. The position of the center after releasing the stick from different directions.

If the problem persists, save the model, connection mode and video without touching the sticks. Do not try to compensate for any large displacements with a maximum deadband: this may make the control awkward and hide a reproducible fault.

An online test helps you observe the signal. It does not differentiate between sensor wear, contamination, calibration error and driver processing without additional checks.
